Ok, so the actual article begins here:
This time I decided to have a look at the peering relationships of various Cambodian internet service providers (ISPs). The data is based on several BGP routing table snapshots from various international sources during about a week in the middle of December 2009. Thus, the data is old already at the time of publishing.
One motivation for performing this research was to study the impact of Telcotech’s much hyped entry to the Cambodian wholesale internet capacity provider market by having a comparison point at an earlier time.
Have a look at the previous report on Cambodian ISPs for other details about the operators listed in this report. If an ISP is not listed in this article, then we did not find any route announcements originating from their autonomous system number(s) in the global routing table.
Generally any ISP is purchasing whole-sale bandwidth from an up-stream ISP. In most cases the routing announcement paths indicate customer-client relationships between ISPs but in some cases this may not be true. Therefore this research should be seen only as a report on visible routing table announcements. We are not making any statements about the listed operators’ business relationships.
We have not tried to evaluate the weight of each announced route. Therefore it is not possible to know from this research if the reported routing paths are primary routes or backup routes (used mainly when a primary route happens to go down). Some available backup routes might not be visible in the BGP4 routing table snapshots that were used.
Also we have no way of determining the physical (layer 1 & 2) carrier used to interconnect the ISPs.
