International call prefixes and prices of GSM mobile operators in Cambodia

The number prefix for making decently priced international phone calls in Cambodia is different for almost every GSM mobile phone network operator in Cambodia. This article lists the codes and includes links to prices of Beeline, Cellcard/Mobitel, Hello/TMIC, MetFone, MFone, qbMore, Smart Mobile and Star-Cell.

Cambodia has traditionally only two official gateways for international telephone calls:

  • 001: Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPTC) / Telecom Cambodia (T.C.)
  • 007: Royal Telecam International (RTI), subsidiary of MobiTel, also known as TELE2

Calling through either of these gateways is very expensive (usually more than one dollar per minute).

Fortunately all GSM mobile phone network operators in Cambodia have introduced a cheaper alternative for making international calls. It is often based on voice-over-IP (VOIP) technology. See the table below for information about each operator: Continue reading “International call prefixes and prices of GSM mobile operators in Cambodia”

Pros Thom has compiled a simple comparison of call rates of different mobile phone network operators in Cambodia.

There is no exact answer to the question “which operator is the cheapest one?” as it all depends on several factors; like what types of calls you make, at what times you make the calls, what kind of promotions are utilized, how expensive charge cards you use and so on. This comparison makes some generic assumptions on these matters.

The general outcome of his comparison is that Beeline is the cheapest in most cases.

I have included a link to the page which lists prices for each operator to help in comparing the call and SMS rates. Some operators make it quite difficult to find the pricing information on their web site.
